Roger has expressed himself in many ways over the years. Boosting the salmon population begins with Evergreens and ends with banners for Roger who finished his ten year quest of recording the six species of Salmon in 1995 by producing 179 banner paintings plus many signed and numbered prints. The six species of Salmon cover Chinook, Steelhead, Coho, Sockeye, Chum and Pink.

If you want a piece of Oregon, the indigenous sand bordered, signed and numbered prints, small and large framed works area treasure. They show salmon prints, sun and moonlit scenes of waterfalls, and the forested Pacific wonderland. The signed and numbered prints are also available on note cards with envelopes. Roger has also produced watercolors, carved relief encaustic paintings, acrylic paints and mixed media including sand paintings and murals.

The past owner/Director of the Long Alley Gallery of Lake Oswego, Oregon from 1963 to 1977, Roger was appointed by Governor Tom McCall to the Oregon Arts Commission for a term of four years 1974 to 1978.

His paintings are in the permanent collection of Salishan, Gleneden, Oregon; Bank of California, Portland, Oregon; Far West Federal Savings and Loan, Portland, Oregon and the Heathman Hotel, Portland, Oregon.

Each year at the Oxbow Salmon Festival, someone is honored for his or her work and commitment to the conservation of salmon, other native fish and river habitats. The partners of the Salmon Festival (Metro, Oregon Trout, Mt. Hood National Forest, Portland Water Bureau). Past recipients of the River Stewardship Award aware 1990, Dr. Arch Diack, 1991 Dough Cramer, 1992 Jim Myron, 1993 Ted Strong, 1994 Gov. Barbara Roberts, 1995 Thom and Audrey Simmons, 1996 Errol Claire, 1997 John Kitzhaber,1998 Phil Wallin,1999 Bill Backe,2000Bill Bradberry,2001 Jack & Jan Mcgowan.

Roger says he was put on this earth to record the world around him and hopes to inspire other people in the Northwest to care for the world as well. Roger was born 66 years ago and has always loved nature. He knew as a small boy growing up in Klamath Falls, Oregon that he was going to be an artist and to record nature. Klamath Falls abounds with bird populations, wild life and mountains, and Roger absorbed it all growing up with Cub Scouts to Eagle Scout, going on painting and sketching trips in high school and to the University of Oregon for more education.

Roger Strongly believes that restoring the cool evergreen watershed can help save the salmon in North America. Thirty years ago he planted fir and pine trees in his front yard that at 30 feet tall today. Roger lives on Evergreen Road in Lake Oswego, with his wife Jeanne is a very lucky lady that recovered from a heart attack and a stroke.
